Well, we have five baby bluebirds in the nest box. they hatched when I expected but I am puzzled about the meal worm feeding.

Neither the male and female seem too interested in them since the eggs have hatched. Is it because they are looking for smaller food for the nestlings? But, if that is the case, why aren't they eating the worms for themselves?

Having never fed meal worms before, I don't know if this is expected behavior or not. My TRES have singled out the brand new wood box in the back yard, facing south, leaving Clay & Honey in the front Gilbertson's box in peace, hopefully.

I know it's not a Bluebird, but I thought it was pretty neat to see this Goldfinch feed from my window feeder.
He sat their long enough for me to get my husband to hold the blind open wide for a quick pic.

he was a tricky son of a gun. for several days he would come by and deposit straw in my nestbox. i set traps for the morning and took them out before going to work. couldn't seem to get him.
