Hello everyone,

Well, we have five baby bluebirds in the nest box. they hatched when I expected but I am puzzled about the meal worm feeding.

Neither the male and female seem too interested in them since the eggs have hatched. Is it because they are looking for smaller food for the nestlings? But, if that is the case, why aren't they eating the worms for themselves?

Having never fed meal worms before, I don't know if this is expected behavior or not. I...

Is there an effective preventative that can be used to deter paper wasps from building in unoccupied nestboxes? I checked my trails yesterday and almost every box that did not have a bird nest in it, had a wasp nest. They had even apparently evicted a Carolina Chickadee from her nest box. I have never had wasp problems this severe.
They built a nest in one of my boxes and it has been complete for about 2 weeks. No eggs! Should I just keep watching and waiting or should I clean the box? My experience with other birds is that they soon lay eggs after the nest is complete. The pair spend hours in my backyard watching the nest and coming for their treats.
