Lots of activity |

We have been seeing our blues alot lately checking out both of our nesting boxes in the yard. Couple of males and females go in and out of the boxes. This is
the first fall that I can recall in the past few years that they have been around so much. I also see them with finches. Can someone please tell me why they
are visiting the boxes so much and do they "befriend" finches??

Are you talking about house finches? If so, bluebirds tolerate them quite well. They are sort of like "bluebird groupies" in that they seem to like
hanging around with bluebirds. Go figure!
Bluebirds typically visit boxes all year round. They are naturally curious about cavities and tend to investigate most every one they find. They also have an attachment to boxes where they have had nesting success. As for why they would be displaying more activity than what you have noticed in the past--I really don't know. Maybe these birds aren't the ones who have been with you in the past and they have different habits. Gin

Mine have been visiting my nestbox quite a bit too. I don't remember if that's normal for me or not.
